Glow on a Budget: Frownies Skincare

Hey ya’ll!
So, you may have seen my other post about Frownie’s facial patches, and you probably seen how rough-a-shape my skin looked back in the beginning of January. If not, here’s a reminder. You can see that my skin was dry, flakey, and pretty dull.
One of my goals this year (or every year it seems) is to get healthier and try to get my old skin back…you know, the glowing skin from your youth that wasn’t dull or irritated all of the time? Yeah - that skin. Anyway, this is NOT a post about kicking my Rosacea - hopefully, I’ll figure that out one day, but until then, I’m working on glowing.
Anyway, starting in January, I did the 30+ day challenge for Frownie’s facial patches and fell in love with their product. During that time, the company was also doing a 30 day skincare challenge for people to develop a routine and to stick with it. At that time, I had been using another clean brand of skincare, but, as you can see, my skin was needing some help. I took the plunge and ordered the 5 piece system that included a facial wash, apple serum for fine lines, rose water hydrator, skin serum and a moisturizer. Pretty much everything you need for a full routine. What I really like about this skincare line is that the ingredients are all from the Earth and are GOOD for your skin. Also, Frownie’s has a pretty good 30 day guarantee.
Step 1: Ph Balance Face Wash
The first step in the routine is to wash your face. I know that some people like to double-wash their skin, but that’s not my thing because I don’t want to risk stripping my skin barrier. I like using soft microfiber washcloths to help get off my makeup with warm water and then wash whatever is left on my skin off of my face with a cleanser. The good thing about this face wash is it’s gentle, has natural ingredients, and can get the makeup off without stripping your skin. That’s a win-win in my book.
Step 2: Apple Stem Cell Serum
So, the next step is to apply the Apple Stem Cell Serum. This stuff worked really good! I noticed a difference in the fine lines under my eyes. A few years ago, I think during Covid, I remember waking up one morning and having a sudden, deep wrinkle under my left eye - probably stress induced. I can see it more so when I smile. After starting the apple serum, I have noticed that it’s not as noticeable. According to their website, apple stem cells have been able to reverse wrinkles while also boosting stem cells in the person using them. That’s pretty cool!
Step 3: Rose Water Hydrator
Ya'll. If you have dry skin, this feels like a cool autumn mist hitting your face. Not only does it have organic rose and aloe (which are calming agents), but it also has hyaluronic acid which helps your skin maintain moisture. I love this stuff. It smells great and feels great. Some people use this as the wetting agent to their Frownie’s patches. Personally, I love showering my face in this and just use water for the patches.
Step Four: Skin Serum
Honestly, besides using the facial patches, I think this stuff may have been the biggest game changer for my skin. I have always tried using serums that have vitamin C & E before, but my skin always freaked out on me, becoming more red and irritated. My forehead is noticeably less flaky and dry, my skin has a subtle glow that wasn’t there before, and I’m pretty sure this is the culprit. I have legit seen myself in the mirror more than once over the past couple months and thought to myself, “wow, I’m having a really good skin day” or “dang, my skin is glowing!” I can’t wait to see how my skin texture looks a year from now.
Step 5: Face & Neck Moisturizer
If you are anything like me, you are always on the hunt for a GOOD moisturizer. One that doesn’t leave you too greasy, one that’s not too thick, one that rests well under your makeup without breaking your makeup down, and one that actually makes your skin feel nourished and hydrated. This one checks all of those boxes for me. And the best part, is that you don’t have to use very much. Honestly, I only use about a quarter sized amount. A plus is that it’s full of ceramides which help BUILD and keep your skin barrier protected. After repairing a damaged skin barrier, it’s been super important to find something that keeps it safe and this has done a great job!
Is it worth the hype?
Definitely. I’ll keep using this skincare system for the foreseeable future. It’s not too expensive for a full line, it works, it’s natural, and it performs without harming the endocrine system. One thing to consider when trying a new skincare system: your skin may go through an adjustment period. My skin went through an adjustment period for about a week. My skin got super flaky about 2 weeks after starting the system - I honestly think my skin didn’t know what to think about the serum, but I was determined to persevere through the adjustment and I’m really glad that I did.
Another great improvement is that my makeup looks WAY better than before due to it being nourished and hydrated.
I have been using the system twice a day and each product has lasted me about 2 months, so that’s not too bad either considering the price and what you’re getting for your money.
Last thing to consider - this isn’t a fix for red, sensitive, or rosacea like skin - not for me anyway. There are different types of rosacea, and my type isn’t impacted much by topical products.
If you’re interested, try the system for yourself. Use my link and get $10 off your first order from their site. If you try it, let me know what you think!
